The hand, Tactility, is resonating with the sounds of touch receptors firing in the palm. With assistance from Dr. Mandayam Srinivasan at MIT I was able to make copies of audio recordings that translate the electrical signals of touch receptors firing into sound. The recordings have been amplified and are easily heard and felt by viewers interacting with the hand. Tactility is installed permanently in Prospect, Nova Scotia. It was produced for an exhibition at St. Mary’s University Art Gallery in 2005.
